Install the App

You're already running the app.

This page is open in the installed version, so there's nothing left to do. The icon should be on your home screen.

There's nothing to download and no app store involved. Your phone can save Film Photography to its home screen as an icon that opens the site full-screen, without the browser bars — it looks and behaves like an app, and it takes about ten seconds to set up. It uses almost no storage.

Your browser can do this for you — no manual steps needed.

iPhone & iPad

Safari

  1. Open Film Photography in Safari. This only works in Safari — Chrome and Firefox on iPhone can't add to the home screen.
  2. Tap the Share button ↥ at the bottom of the screen (or top-right on an iPad).
  3. Scroll down the list of options and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add in the top-right corner. The icon appears on your home screen straight away.

Android

Chrome

  1. Open Film Photography in Chrome.
  2. Tap the menu button ⋮ in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Install app, or Add to Home screen if you don't see the first one. Both do the same thing.
  4. Confirm, and the icon lands in your app drawer and home screen.

Computer

Chrome or Edge

  1. Look in the address bar, at the right-hand end, for a small install icon ↧. Click it and confirm.
  2. If it isn't there, open the browser menu ⋮ and look for Install Film Photography or Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
  3. Safari on a Mac uses File → Add to Dock instead.

What this actually does

It saves a shortcut. Opening it loads Film Photography the way you always have, just without the address bar and tabs taking up the top of the screen — which on a phone is a surprising amount of room back for looking at photographs.

  • You stay logged in exactly as you would in the browser.
  • It needs an internet connection, same as the website. Nothing is stored on your phone for reading later.
  • No permissions are requested — no contacts, no location, no camera beyond what the browser already asks when you upload a photograph.
  • To remove it, delete the icon the same way you'd delete any app. Nothing is left behind.
